Outside America, all developed countries have their own laws, codes and regulations in effect. Although they ultimately tend toward similar goal, the nature of the divergences are quite complex. Nevertheless, serious efforts for globalization are being undertaken toward the development and the adoption of a uniform system of codes and standards and these are precisely the objectives of the ISO standards. ISO stands for the International Organization for Standardization, the world largest standards developing organization with headquarters in Geneva. As of this day, ISO has developed and published more than 18,500 International Standards.
